guy:
Here’s a spin on reverse-trick-or-treating that I got a kick out of. I grew up in a college town, and one Halloween our doorbell rang and we opened the door expecting to see trickortreaters— but what was in front of our open door—was another door! Like, a full-on wooden door, that had a sign that said “Please knock.” So we did, and the door swung open to reveal a bunch of college dudes dressed as really old grandmothers, curlers in their hair, etc, who proceeded to coo over our “costumes” and tell us we were “such cute trick or treaters!” One even pinched my cheek. Then THEY gave US candy, closed their door, picked it up and walked to the next house. This is the most brilliant thing I have heard in a long, long time.
Many people who answered that question seem to be douchebags. Halloween party? not as fun as trick-or-treating. Parade? No. Walking around? No. Handing out candy? No. Reverse trick-or-treating? Yes. But there is something ridiculously fun about knocking on strangers’ doors, having them admire your fucking amazing costume, and then exchanging candy. I think they should go for it.
I love the door idea!
And also, I totally trick or treated in college. It was way funner than the time a few years ago our friends talked Jon & I into going to this club in Boston on Halloween, where I ended up literally being the most clothed girl there, and then our cars got towed and we paid $110 to get it back, then I got home around 1am and had to wake up 4 hours later for work. And I didn’t even get any candy out of it. Trick or treating definitely pwns.
#1. That sounds hilarious and amazing.
#2. I went trick or treating Freshman year, but haven’t since. I try to quiet my dissappointed inner-child by buying all my favorite candy the next day for 50% off at Walgreens.
#3. I thought my Sarah Palin costume last year was probably the best costume of my young adult life. It was conservative for walking around, but could be transformed into sexy (stars and stripes bikini!) when the situation called for it. Collegehumor.com chose it as a national pick with two other Palins, which I consider a huge accomplishment seeing as how every other college girl in America probably went as Palin last year.
#4. I am seriously considering buying a mask and such and going trick or treating next year… I’m short, I think I can pull it off if I wear a sports bra and something that doesn’t show my face…
#5. Plans for Halloween this year: “Sexy” costume (I figure it’s the last year I can pull it off before I’m graduated and it’s no longer acceptable/tolerated), Halloween party at my place the week before Halloween (email me for details if you’re a Bostonian!), Llana’s party the day before Halloween (my friend/former high school idol who lives in Cali now but comes home every year for the most epic Halloween party ever), and then, sadly, probably working on the actual day of Halloween (my favorite holiday ever, by far, since as long as I can remember—this saddens me!), then hopefully out early-ish and a quick change to catch the tail end of whatever party I can find. Wooo!
#6. I love Halloween.
