About the Girl...
I’m a 21 year old college student living in Boston. I attend an artsy college in the heart of the city where I major in Writing, Literature, and Publishing. I love my city and hope to stay here for most of my young adult life, if I don’t find job opportunities in NYC or LA to take me away.
I grew up in a tiny town in Western Mass. I liked it, but I always felt like I was in the wrong place. Everything was too far apart. I enjoyed my tiny high school, where I did well and excelled in theater and dabbled in various types music (chorus, chamber singers, flute, voice lessons, guitar). I was never the prettiest or the most popular, moreso on the other end of the spectrum. But I made some amazing friends that I will hopefully last for the rest of my life. I always knew I’d write.
In Fall 2007 two very significant things happened in my life: First, I set out for a semester abroad with my school. 80 of us were chosen to live in a castle the school owns and take classes for four months. During this time I was able to experience many new places—thanks to long weekends and a Eurail pass that was part of the travel abroad package.
Second was the death of my father. He was one of the most important people in my life, the person I could come to with anything without being judged. Losing him was earth shattering and I’m still trying to put pieces of myself back together. I had to return from my European adventure for the funeral, then hop back on the plane after a week. It was a life changing experience to say the least. He influences my writing in a big way.
When you meet me, I’ll either be outgoing or shy, confident or self-concious, it really depends. I’m hard working even if lazy sometimes, and would do anything for the people I love. I’m a great friend, or so I’ve been told. I’m way too forgiving and give out second chances a bit more than I should. I think I’m a hopeless romantic, though sometimes that’s hidden. I’m often chimerical.
Other than that I enjoy shopping (probably too much…), reading, watching movies (horror movies especially), traveling, singing, web design, blogging, going out, and hanging out with the people I love.
So far I’ve been published on seventeenmag.com (2002) for a short piece of fiction, The Emerson Review (2009) for a short piece of fiction, and some writing examples of mine will appear in the next edition of the writing textbook “What If?” Hopefully more will follow!
